Readers interested in another impediment to being conscious might like to read today's post on one of my other blogs:
http://progressive-education.blogspot.com/2007/01/labour-is-at-it-again.html .
Where Socrates saw education as being but another word for enlightenment, for awakening or becoming conscious - of becoming aware of Reality (truth, beauty and light), where becoming educated automatically meant becoming compassionate and where John Dewey equated "education" with "growth", our politicians ask us to think of education as nothing more than "training" for economic activity so that we can outdo our competitors in the rest of the world. It is important for people who are on a path of growth in consciousness that they merely note this misuse of language and not engage in the debate at all. There is nothing to say. Just notice and then ignore. And continue your journey.
