Moratorium

Although I have not been posting too many items on this blog in recent times, I have been doing so on a couple of the other ones (especially on my "Health and Wellbeing" and "Politics economics and culture" blogs. Nevertheless, in order to focus my energies on another task (the completion of one of several books I began long ago), I will be posting even less frequently in future and will limit them to short pieces. Stay well.

Education as training for economic activity

Readers interested in another impediment to being conscious might like to read today's post on one of my other blogs: http://progressive-education.blogspot.com/2007/01/labour-is-at-it-again.html .

Where Socrates saw education as being but another word for enlightenment, for awakening or becoming conscious - of becoming aware of Reality (truth, beauty and light), where becoming educated automatically meant becoming compassionate and where John Dewey equated "education" with "growth", our politicians ask us to think of education as nothing more than "training" for economic activity so that we can outdo our competitors in the rest of the world. It is important for people who are on a path of growth in consciousness that they merely note this misuse of language and not engage in the debate at all. There is nothing to say. Just notice and then ignore. And continue your journey.

Becoming conscious entails becoming informed

To understand why we can neither become nor remain conscious we need to understand the relationship between vested interests and the accuracy of "the news". Click on the following link to understand a little about the sorts of profits involved. This is why you need to learn to trust your own wisdom rather than to trust the media, the government, or the medical profession. Becoming conscious means that you trust yourself, your own inner voice, not external authority, not even the new religion called "science" - and certainly not medical science.

Becoming conscious takes time and effort. It also takes a lifetime to maintain.
